You can visit the Boolean operators in Python and Bitwise operators in Python if you have not read them yet. This was all in the operator series in Python. I have designed a table for your quick reference to remember these operators and recall their working in a go. Reference for Python Comparison Operators: You can execute the same code as above to see the results without any changes. This operator is a combination of " less-than " comparison operator and " equal-to " comparison operator. With the similar effects of the " greater than equal to " operator, the " the less than equal to " operator returns True if the operand value on the left side of the operator is either less-than or equal-to the operand value on the right side. As a practice, execute the above code with just the " greater-than " operator and see the answer. Since the values of operands a and b are equal, the answer returned is True. The operator is denoted/ represented by the symbol "= b) Less Than Operator in PythonĬontrary to the " greater-than " operator in Python, the less-than operator returns True if the operand on the left-hand side has a value lesser than the value of the right-side operand. ![]() Since "***a ***" is less " b ", the answer returned on the console is False. We will examine the same piece of code to see the result for a > b. This operator is denoted by the symbol ">" and returns True if the operand on the left side has a greater value than the operand on the right side. One of the comparison operators in Python is the " greater than " operator. Taking the same example as above, it should return True this time.Īnd yes, it does return the expected answer on the console. The "not-equal-to" operator is denoted by "!=" sign. not(equal to) if it helps you remember better. The " not equal to " operator is exactly opposite to the "equal to" operator in Python i.e. The python not equal to operator returns True if the operands under consideration are not equal to each other. "=".Įxecute the following code to see the output: a = 2Īs expected, since a is not equal to b (*with values 2 and 4 *), the answer returned is False. The "equal to" operator is denoted by two equal signs i.e. The python equal to operator returns True if the two operands under consideration are equal to each other. Python Comparison Operatorsīelow is the list of six comparison operators used in Python. In this post, we will go through the six comparison operators in python and examine all of them with examples. These operators are used exhaustively from small to large programs in logic building and are therefore one of the most important concepts in the PCEP course. Comparison operators are also called relational operators as they find the relation between the operands (greater than, equal, etc.) and generate a boolean value in terms of True and False. ![]()
![]() At 30 minutes minutes (and 25 seconds) it holds the dubious record of longest club track, stretching past Pink Floyd epics like Echoes and Atom Heart Mother and even besting either side of Mike Oldfield's two track album Tubular Bells. I am even starting to enjoy Ikon for the monster jam that it is, not in spite of it. With repeated listens, the melodies start to gel and the compositions start to sort themselves out in my head. ![]() If you don't get this music, it's on you." Some of the music actually sounded like Zappa but it was just as much an attitude of, "I'm a genius. The first few plays felt very much like I was back on Zappa's turf. Mike Canoe: Todd Rundgren's Utopia is a great example of what happens if I write my review after listening to an album five or six times, versus just two to three times. It's good technically speaking and I appreciate the bands musicianship, there's just nothing that makes me want to play it over again and again This album for me is a background noise kind of album. Unfortunately my excitement was rather squashed. 5/10Ĭameron Gillespie: I was really excited about this weeks pick, I had never looked past Todd Rundgren's early classics like Hello It's Me and I Saw The Light. So despite my natural prog leanings this one didn't work for me. Sadly this felt longer than its 60 minutes. Utopia Theme is a decent opener but Ikon is all over the place. This has more in common with Frank Zappa than Yes or Genesis though and the musical segments that make up the longest song (Ikon) seem disjointed and inconsistent. Instead we have a jazzy, keyboard centric display of prog rock overload. John Davidson: Todd Rundgren is the guitar player who made Bat out of Hell interesting. Overall, not a terrible album, but I wouldn't say Rundgren's brand of prog is my cup of tea. Some editing on the longer songs would definitely have helped both the sound quality and the enjoyability of the music for me. ![]() Side 1 is decent enough though, the guitar work on Utopia is good and Freedom Fighters is an enjoyable break from the overload, even if it isn't something that would ever show up on a best of Rundgren playlist (at least not one I'd compile). It also doesn't help that due to the length of the album, it had to be crammed onto one LP, which means this album sounds pretty lousy production-wise (an oddity considering how great of a producer Rundgren is). This is especially true with The Ikon, which starts off great, then goes within 6-7 minutes in (and then goes on for 20 more). There's plenty of great musicianship on display (Rundgren is definitely one of the most underrated guitarists out there), however a lot of the music seems to be good passages stitched together that never quite gel as a whole, and in the end don't really go anywhere. Excluding Utopia's Ra, which I've only heard once and don't have, this might be the Rundgren 70s album I listen to the least. I've read that Utopia's version is the reason Jeff Lynne wound up redoing it with ELO). Nothing really prepared me for this, not even hearing Utopia's Another Live (which has a really good version of The Move's Do Ya on it. After hearing that I started checking out most of his studio stuff from that time, stuff like Something/Anything, A Wizard, A True Star and others. Shane Reho: I started getting into Todd Rundgren five years ago after I bought a copy of Back To The Bars for the hell of it (great live LP by the way, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to start with his stuff). Goodbye, pop concision hello, elaborate compositions bearing complex multipartite structures. If the image on the front cover of an all-seeing eye at the centre of a pattern of coloured balls suggested there might not be too many I Saw The Light-style three-minute pop singles on this latest venture, confirmation lay with the live photograph on the back: it showed Rundgren on stage at his most gaunt and strange, leaning back, lost in music, flanked by four musicians with outsized hairdos in full space-age regalia, and surrounded by a shiny arsenal of hi-tech equipment that looked as though it was capable of some serious instrumental bombast.įinal proof that Rundgren’s days as a purveyor of sweet pop candy and rock nuggets were behind him was provided by the tracklisting: there were just three numbers on side one, and one taking up the whole of side two. Four cute guys sporting Beatle cuts this was not. Todd Rundgren’s Utopia was this most mercurial of artists’ first recorded foray with a band since his (late-60s) stint with The Nazz, but it was a long way from Anglophile power-pop and winsome balladry. ![]() This will give your fritters a noticeable but not overpowering kick. When the LEGO® Universe comes under attack, there’s no one better to have by your side than the LEGO® Movie 2 Emmet Minifigure Alarm Clock. The Minifigure has the same points of articulation in the head, arms and hands as a standard Minifigure, It doesn’t bend at the waist and it cannot be removed from the base section. I have to admit the new size is quite smaller than I expected But it is a totally new design and if the same scale minifigure was placed upon an equivalently sized display base, it would be far to big to put anywhere. The older clocks were classed as ‘550%’ with the LEGO Movie 2 ones being ‘300%’, I understand that some future LEGO Minifigure Clocks will also offer a ‘500%’ size. As you can see above there is quite a size difference. ![]() When these were first revealed, I was a little unsure how they compared to the older clocks, in terms of size. It only stays on for a few seconds and is bright enough to easily show the time in the dark of night. These will light up when the alarm activates or when one of the buttons are pressed. One of the things which hasn’t changed with the new design is the illuminated display. It’s certainly a little easier to set the clock up now, compared to older products. One of these switches the alarm function on or off, the other allows you to set the time or alarm time. These can also be used to set the clocks time and alarm, in conjunction with the slide switches on the rear of the clock. These also have dual uses, with the first demoing the new alarm sound and snooze functions, and the other two activating the light. There are a trio of button on top of the clock display which double up as the bricks studs. The main numbers show the current time, with the smaller numbers in the lower right hand corner highlighting the alarm time. ![]() The brand new design changes every single aspect of the clock, the LCD display is slightly more compact compare to past version, but it’s now a little clearer to see and the digits have been given a LEGO makeover and now look like actual LEGO bricks. For now I’ll be taking a look at the Emmet and Wyldstyle/Lucy Minifigure Clocks. ![]() Although they share similar features to past Minifigure clocks, it’s a completely new product and something which will continue with future products, including these upcoming LEGO Star Wars clocks. A few weeks ago I broke the news of the range of buildable watches and Minifigure Clocks based on The LEGO® Movie 2. ![]() In most cases, replacing damaged capacitors will solve speed issues in a fan. If you look at the capacitor and it is bulging, it looks like it has leaked, or it is a brown color, you will need to replace it. Without going into too much depth on how electrics work, all you really need to know is that the capacitor will play a major role in modulating the speed of your fan. Inside your fan, there will be a capacitor. If they are handled incorrectly, they could seriously injure you. This is where things can become a little dangerous, and we wouldn’t recommend that you deal with the capacitors yourself. If this happens, then you will need to replace that component. The ball bearings (or the ball bearing holder) can get damaged in some cases. If you don’t, then the fan will move at a slower speed. These ball bearings are important for the movement of the fan.Įvery so often, you will want to lubricate the ball bearings with some grease. Inside the motor will be a ring filled with ball bearings. If you cannot fully move the speed control knob, you will need to replace the whole assembly. You can fiddle about with the speed control knob to see if this is the case. Any control knob may not move up to the highest or lowest settings. Over time, this speed control system can break. This is a switch that you can turn to change the speed settings on the fan. Some ceiling fans will have a speed control on the motor. Tighten up any obvious screws, particularly those attached to the fan blades. If the fall is sudden, then switch everything off. This means that you may notice a fall in the speed at which the fan is spinning around. Loose ScrewsĪs with the broken fan blades, loose screws can cause the blades to become unbalanced which could cause your ceiling fan to wobble, creating a small amount of drag. Thankfully, unless you have an exceedingly old ceiling fan, it shouldn’t be too tricky to get hold of replacement fan blades. A small crack or a bend in the fan blades could cause serious issues. Increased drag means slower movement speeds. Broken fan blades could cause increased drag as the fan is spinning around. If you have noticed that the speed on your fan has plummeted, then this could be down to broken fan blades. At this point, many people will consider completely replacing their fan. However, since it is at the ‘heart’ of your fan, it will likely be the most expensive thing to replace. ![]() In some cases, you will be able to replace a broken control box. This is where all of the tech that controls your fan will be. If you look at the control box and spot that something is cracked or there are frayed wires, this likely could be the issue. In the center of the fan, there will be a control box. If your ceiling fan is constantly overheating, then you may want to replace the ceiling fan as it can become a fire hazard. When you switch everything back on again, the speed should be back to normal. If the speed has dropped during use, then the chances are that the fan motor has overheated. If your fan is on the older side, then it will be prone to overheating. If the wires or assembly are damaged, then this could be the source of your ceiling fan speed woes. While you are inside the fan, you may want to look at the chain switch assembly (this is the switch that the chain activates). However, in most cases, you will need to replace it completely. ![]() Opening the system up and ‘freeing’ the pull chain may work. All of these are signs that you have a broken pull chain. In other cases, it may be harder to pull, or it may not move at all. If you have a ceiling fan that uses a pull chain, you may notice that it isn’t ‘clicking’ in the same way it used to. In some cases, a fan not working at certain speeds results from a broken chain or switch assembly. Broken Pull Chain or Chain Switch Assembly If you are working on the ceiling fan yourself, then make sure the mains power is switched off at the breaker. It may be worth calling in a fan repair expert to help. Some of the issues (especially changing capacitors) can be quite dangerous if you aren’t quite sure what you are doing. If your ceiling fan isn’t going the speed you want, you will find the answers in this section.īefore we dive into the various issues, we do want to point out that while you may be able to deal with many of these issues yourself, it isn’t really recommended. So, rather than breaking everything down into two distinct problems, we will consider them as one.
